Arthroscopy & Sports Injuries
Minimally invasive keyhole surgery by Dr. Divyanshu Goyal at SNG Hospital, Indore.
The posterior cruciate ligament (PCL) sits at the back of the knee and prevents the shin bone from sliding backward. It is a strong ligament, often injured during direct impact to the front of the knee, such as in road accidents or a hard fall onto a bent knee. While mild PCL injuries can sometimes heal with therapy, more severe tears need surgical reconstruction to restore full knee stability.
Patients usually notice swelling at the back of the knee, stiffness, mild instability while walking on uneven ground or descending stairs, and a dull ache that lingers with activity.
PCL reconstruction is carried out through arthroscopic surgery using small incisions. A tendon graft is placed along the natural path of the ligament and fixed firmly to the bone, restoring the knee’s back-to-front stability. Because the PCL is located deep within the joint, the procedure requires precise technique and experience. Recovery includes a supervised rehabilitation program to regain strength and protect the new graft while it heals.
Dr. Divyanshu Goyal has extensive experience in treating complex ligament injuries, including isolated and combined PCL tears, using modern arthroscopic methods that protect surrounding knee structures and support a smoother recovery.
If you have persistent knee instability following an injury, consult Dr. Divyanshu Goyal for a thorough evaluation and a personalised treatment plan to get your knee moving confidently again.
