Arthroscopy & Sports Injuries
Minimally invasive keyhole surgery by Dr. Divyanshu Goyal at SNG Hospital, Indore.
The acromioclavicular, or AC, joint sits at the top of the shoulder where the collarbone meets the shoulder blade. It is commonly injured during falls onto the shoulder or direct blows during contact sports, resulting in pain and sometimes a visible bump at the top of the shoulder.
Pain and tenderness at the top of the shoulder, swelling, a visible step or bump over the joint, and pain when reaching across the body are common signs of an AC joint injury.
Mild to moderate AC joint injuries are usually treated with rest, a supportive sling, and physiotherapy to restore strength and movement. More severe injuries, where the ligaments are completely torn and the joint is significantly displaced, may require surgery to reconstruct the ligaments and stabilise the joint using minimally invasive techniques. This helps restore the normal alignment of the shoulder and prevents long-term discomfort or weakness.
Dr. Divyanshu Goyal carefully evaluates the grade of AC joint injury to recommend the most appropriate treatment, from conservative care to advanced arthroscopic reconstruction when necessary.
If you have shoulder pain following a fall or sports injury, consult Dr. Divyanshu Goyal for an accurate diagnosis and the right course of treatment.
